Face the facts. Lisk DAO was surprisingly effective in eliminating the remnants of the community that this project once had. This means we have 100% chance that vote for burn will end up with no quorum. This in consequence will result in another major token price dump. I want to prevent this and help you so take my proposal seriously.
The plan is to make pool on x.com and allow all people even not holding lisk to vote.
In addition make pool on main page on lisk.com and allow people to vote for or against burning. Track IP addresses to prevent one person making multiple votes and block voting from VPN. Create articles everywhere possible about it to announce it well and collect as many votes as possible.
Then calculate average percentage of this 2 pools. If people vote for more than 50% to burn then lisk DAO and Lisk Team will be obligated to vote yes for burn 100M lisk with 50% of their total voting power. If people will vote more than 50% against then lisk DAO and Lisk Team will be obligated to vote no for burn 100M lisk with 50% of their total voting power. If community votes on x.com and lisk.com will be exactly 50% for yes and no then lisk DAO and Lisk Team will be obligated to vote yes for burn 100M lisk with 50% of their total voting power.
On x.com it will be better to collect users replies instead of making pool that will better prevent from cheating because they won’t be able to vote multiple times from the same account using proxies, VPN, tor browser etc. All will be transparent. On your main lisk.com page you will have no problems with tracking IP addresses so voting pool there.
This way we will have no problems with making burning 100M lisk reaching required minimum voting power.
I don’t see other option and rejection of this vote will have very negative outcome (way more negative than previous rescheduling) potentially and probably resulting in real death of the project without return.
Will the Lisk Team do the Poll?
How do we ensure it is transparent?
Will you accept the outcome of this Poll even if it turns out opposite of what you expected?
It is a difficult place to be, and while I think a poll will repaint the already obvious picture, I think an X poll can be rigged in many ways.
One thing is clear tho: Tokenomics was changed for a reason. No one changes Tokenomics, devalues a token only to turn around and burn 25% of it. So at least you can expect that the Team is not inclined to burn.
Lisk never had burn. Lisk had giveaways, airdrops, unlocks which is printing daily around 20M new lisk tokens were added to total market cap in just few months and nobody bought it (most allocated to DAO) - pure dilution. You can’t do that infinitely and we are now in this crucial point - if we won’t burn anything there will be no way to save lisk and it will go to zero + delisting. That’s my opinion that’s why I want to help them survive but honestly, I lost all hope and I plan to quit lisk sooner than later. Binance warning about potentially scammy tokenomics change in lisk is not there by accident. After all if they already abandonned lisk, burn means token price increase and they can have 2-3x less tokens to dump and quit but at the same time this 2-3x less means more value and more money than 200M lisk for 1 cent each compared to 10 cents after burning (example values for 2026).
Don’t know when you joined the community but I remember when Lisk had only 168M tokens or so. The new Tokenomics took it from that number to 400M with 100M scheduled for the Burn proposal.
My question is, why increase token supply by 200% only to allocate 25% of supply for “potential” burn?
I don’t think the team ever wanted to burn those tokens, I mean, you didn’t even need to mint them in the first place.
No supply increase = No need for burn.
If you increase supply, then I can rightly assume you DO NOT intend to really burn it
As much as I’d like to burn the tokens, I’m against this kind of chaos — otherwise, it’s not really a DAO. The team shouldn’t be voting, and the community should be more active — but to be honest, that’s more of a problem with the team than with the community. Personally, I wouldn’t get involved in this mess right now either… It’s just that I have no way out anymore — I’ve already locked my tokens.
Why you think that giving more voting power to community is chaos in this case? It’s exception and real way of pushing forward with burning vote. It only requires logical preparation and common sense. Even if it won’t work as planned and they will again fail to deliver it will still more or less reflect community will. Of course no voting on x.com but on lisk official page and counting comments on x.com from different users as votes. I don’t think that anybody would like to cheat on it - it’s not super easy to create many multi accounts on x but we can also play very safe and redirect to vote from x to lisk official page. Then having all that filthers, IP tracking and VPN protection + human verification would be enough to make it fair. Moreover we can reduce DAO and lisk team influence even further from 50% to 70,80 or 100% - meaning they will have to pick community decission and vote on it with 100% of their total voting power. This way they don’t even take part in voting theoretically because it won’t be their decission even but community pool voting result. It could give community required 24M voting power to pass it.
Anyways, any topics and suggestions are welcome. Nothing is written in stone. The more we have these conversations the more likely for us to figure something out and have a consensus.
You’re also welcome to make your own suggestions on how you think things can be made better
But we have a little problem… since Sep 2024 nothing changed… We should to decrease quorum till 18M at least. And we should focus on that, after DAO will increase with value(exclude team and linked persons with them), then it can be up back to 24M. Now, DAO is fake, Lisk is
Can you initiate a proposal to reduce Quorum?
I’m 100% going to support and vote YES on it.
Right now, it’s almost impossible to have a quorum without the team and linked accounts present. On the flip side, the current active proposal is about 100 votes shy of quorum despite lack of participation from majority of the DAO
I’m afraid reducing quorum to 18M won’t help in this case as it will be still too much for community to reach. We have to take into consideration last airdrop and it’s negative outcome combined with slowly but constantly decreasing number of people holding lisk for at least 3 years now. Finding anyone staking lisk is like finding needles in barn full of hay. That’s why I think it is worth considering doing voting through lisk official webpage if all cheat protection is properly executed. The overall idea is to force lisk DAO and lisk team to give their voting power for community in this vote - to force them to vote as majority of community wants. Their absence from voting in my opinion will result in another rescheduling burning proposal or rejection from qorum not reached - I see no other outcome unless we make exception which would be voting pool available for everyone (1 vote per IP and VPN IP’s are blocked). There is very slim chance of somebody willing to cheat on this because noone really cares that much and with proper protection and human verification it will be hard to cheat. 1 vote = 1 point, 50% or more votes from pool for yes means lisk team and lisk DAO are obliged to use their voting power for yes. We could make it 100%, 90% or 80%. If for example 80% and pool vote says burn then lisk DAO and lisk team voting with 80% of their total voting power for yes and they can use remaining 20% to vote as they want. Max Kordek, Olivier and other single person lisk holders who are from lisk team are not allowed to vote. This way we make sure that community can’t be outvoted by lisk team and DAO and that it will be decission made by hundreds of people instead of only few individuals with majority of voting power.
It is not uncommon way of making crucial decissions through official web page. There are many projects who successfully did it for things like for example changing project logo etc. They were doing it by connecting wallets but I propose not to and use anti cheat protection instead. This could be the easiest way of voting for people in lisk history if done correctly and at the same time it would be one time exception which will encourage people to vote because there will be no real barriers just go to website solve human verification and click yes or no for burning. Voting system should be set to automatically block voting twice from same IP, mac address and ofc block VPN.
Cool alternative to that would be voting by using your fingerprint. Another alternative would be to make campaign buy 1 lisk and vote allowing people to buy 1 lisk through lisk webpage and allow those who bought to vote in pool - safest way possible zero chance for cheating. With IP’s and VPN’s it won’t be 100% safe even that cloudflare offers VPN protection tools and it’s doable to even verify votes manually and prevent cheating in 90% or more.
What is the point of blockchain technology in governance if we still have to resort to web2 systems that can be rigged easily.
all the anti-rigging measures you outlined are not fool proof. Though we can experiment, but i’ll recommend not to start with a vote as important as the upcoming burn.
test it out a few times with low level decisions and see if it works
Ofc we should make test pool before it to check if it will be ok or rigged and to test potential cheating methods. After all voting is not 100% legit and it will be always some cheating going on. The goal is to not allow for more than 10% cheated votes.
Now that we are here, how do we get the team to launch a test poll (Something as simple as “How can we make governance in the Lisk DAO better?” or “Rate the outcome of season 1 airdrop from 0 - 10”) with 4 simple options and see how that plays out
They are unable to do anything but they can use their money and hire web developer to do all the job with voting pool. It can be easily done by 1 competent person. Secondly, we could think of giving “tickets” to vote that is unique links for voting for anyone who wants. This will guarantee known number of votes without cheating. After voting link expires and we further reduce cheating to absolute mininum. This would be even more fair than in tally.
Now that we have had this discussion and gotten to some sort of consensus, how do we execute, seeing that we need these polls created and announced on official Lisk channels
We need to create voting webpage as soon as possible on lisk.com. We need a person who will manually distribute tickets for those willing to vote, we need ticket limit I would suggest to set it to 10k tickets. We need IP auto tracker - easiest way to do it is to bring registration before vote this will include human verification, ideally ask people who want to vote to register on this DAO forum and then check for their registration IP’s and distribute unique voting tickets (unique link or code to enter in order to vote) 1 per IP limit. For people working normally this whole thing should take few days up to 1 week at max. Then we have at least half May and whole June to distribute 10k voting tickets and voting through webpage will start at the same time as tally vote. We need someone who is not from lisk DAO or lisk team to distribute tickets.
