The Lisk Partner Delegation Program

Dear Lisk DAO community,

We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Lisk Partner Delegation Program (LPDP), which is an initiative from the Lisk team that will encourage and enable key contributors of the Lisk ecosystem to become active participants in the Lisk DAO.

To enable this, the Onchain Foundation will be delegating an additional 3 million vpLSK to a select group of partner delegates. To kickstart this program, we selected a diverse group of experienced teams and individuals across the Ethereum ecosystem, which we will be announcing next week in this thread.

Each partner delegate is either a team or individual that will receive the following voting power:

  • 300K vpLSK for teams
  • 150K vpLSK for individuals

We see this as strategically important initiative for several reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Creating one avenue to attract more long-term potential delegates to the Lisk DAO with the goal of making the Lisk DAO more decentralized,
  • Facilitating closer relationships between many of the strategic partners we work closely with and the DAO (which is intended to be the long-term funding mechanism for all ecosystem growth partners), and
  • Providing the DAO with further expertise, and localized knowledge, from teams and individuals who have already been contributing across the Ethereum ecosystem for several years.

The program is planned to start with the start of the second DAO season. To stay in the program, it will be required to actively participate in the governance related discussions and votings. Participation for each partner delegate is reviewed after each DAO season. There will be a general review of the current partner delegates after two DAO seasons (~ 12 months), and we might make adjustments to the set of partner delegates at that time. We welcome community suggestions for future partner delegates.

For delegates who stay longer in the program, the plan is to shift to a “voting power boost” model, where it is expected that delegates provide a certain amount of self-delegated voting power, which will then be boosted by the Lisk team.

Disclaimer: Please note that this is an initiative by the Lisk team, and the funds used for the delegations are not coming from the DAO treasury, but from the Onchain Foundation. We therefore won’t make a proposal for this, but we are open to feedback and improvement ideas regarding the LPDP.

This is a welcome development.
Through this initiative we can put Onchain Foudations voting power to use – further democratizing the DAO by encouraging more ecosystem contributors to actively participate in deliberations and decision-making processes.

I think this is a well-thought-out approach. Delegates should absolutely have skin in the game—holding and staking LSK is the first signal for commitment and alignment with the DAO’s long term goals goals.

My suggestion: require delegates to self-delegate from day one—perhaps a minimum of 500 to 1,000 LSK in voting power. This sets a baseline for commitment and filters out passive members.

Also, we can also consider governance participation as a key criterion for DAO grant funding Eg: require grant applicants stake and delegate to qualify for review. I think It’s a practical way for projects and teams to demonstrate genuine commitment to Lisk and the DAO — not just as recipients of resources, but as active contributors to its growth and direction. @SuperchainEco

Thanks for the details on this program.

I’d like to express interest in participating as a delegate. I’m currently serving as Optimism’s govNERDs Lead and an active delegate across several other DAOs, with a focus on grants, incentives, and ecosystem growth.

I believe my experience helping DAOs develop funding and growth strategies would be relevant to Lisk’s goals. I can share what’s working across other ecosystems while learning about Lisk’s needs.

Looking forward to seeing things develop!

Dear DAO community,

Thank you very much for your positive replies! We are proud to announce the first partner delegates for the Lisk Partner Delegation Program:

Very excited about kicking off this new program with such a well-rounded and accomplished group of partners!

All delegations to these partners are scheduled to be completed within the next two weeks. As part of the onboarding, we have also asked each partner to create a delegate statement and post it in the Delegate category of the forum to share more information about themselves.
