Test proposal #2: a new voting platform

Abstract

This proposal contains no specific content or financial implications and serves purely to test the UI/UX for a possible migration of the Lisk DAO’s governance interface from Tally to Degov.ai. Due to the upcoming shutdown of Tally’s services by the end of March 2026, the Lisk DAO must transition to a new platform to ensure uninterrupted governance. This proposal initiates a community-wide test vote on Degov.ai to verify the new interface’s functionality and familiarize members with the updated voting process.

Motivation

The Lisk DAO currently relies on Tally for proposal creation and on-chain voting. With Tally’s official announcement to cease operations by March 31, 2026, maintaining the status quo is no longer possible. To prevent any lapse in decentralized governance, it is imperative to move to a stable, integrated alternative. The Degov.ai team has been running a Lisk DAO integration for several months already, making them the most prepared and logical partner for this transition.

Rationale

Transitioning to Degov.ai ensures the Lisk DAO remains operational and decentralized. By running a “test proposal” before any high-stakes governance decisions are made, we mitigate the risk of technical errors and user confusion. This move aligns with our commitment to providing a seamless, transparent governance experience.

Action plan

To ensure a smooth transition, the following steps will be taken:

  1. Test Proposal Launch: Create this proposal on https://lisk.degov.ai/
  2. Community Participation: Encourage all DAO members to connect their wallets to the new platform and cast a test vote.
  3. Test Action Execution: Execute a 0 LSK transfer to test proposal actions.
  4. Verification: Monitor the voting process to ensure the smart contract interactions match the intended outcomes and gather community feedback on the new interface.

Dear Lisk DAO community,

until now, we were using Tally as voting platform for the Lisk DAO: https://www.tally.xyz/gov/lisk/

Unfortunately, Tally announced that they will shut down by the end of this month (March 2026), so we need to find a new platform to facilitate proposal creation and voting for the Lisk DAO.

We are already in contact with the team of Degov.ai, who are actually already integrating the Lisk DAO since a couple of months: https://lisk.degov.ai/

What we would like to do as a next step together with you, is to test out the new platform by running a simple test proposal, with no specific content, just verify the process works as expected on the new UI.

The proposal will go live in the next days.

Please note: Since this is no real proposal, we will not respect the minimum discussion period this time.

We encourage everyone to participate in order to get familiar with the new platform and to verify that the voting process works without any issues the same as it was on Tally.

PS: In case you have any alternative suggestions on what we should use as a new voting platform for the Lisk DAO, feel free to suggest them here as well. Please keep in mind that the Lisk DAO is using the OZ Governor framework, so the new platform should be able to support this, to ensure a quick and cheap migration.

I’m Bear Wang from the degov team, and I’m excited to see that Lisk DAO is interested in the degov product. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about the product, I’m happy to help.

Dear delegates,
thank you for participating so strongly in the proposal voting!
The voting period is now over and the good news is, so far we didn’t spot any significant issues with the new platform :tada:
For the future, we encourage all delegates to use Degov in order to interact with the DAO.

If you discover any issues with the new platform, please let us know here or on Discord

The following reflects the views of L2BEAT’s governance team, composed of @kaereste and @Manugotsuka, and it’s based on their combined research, fact-checking, and ideation.

We voted FOR.

We are in favor of running a test proposal for the new voting platform. Since Tally is shutting down, moving to a new tool is something that has to happen anyway, and testing it with a no-impact proposal is just a practical way to make sure everything works as expected before using it for real decisions.

This is something other DAOs are starting to deal with as well, so having more options for voting platforms will likely become more important over time. From our side, this kind of testing makes sense and is a good step to build confidence in the new setup.
