Hello
One challenge I’ve noticed in decentralized governance is the long-term accumulation of voting power by inactive or absentee delegates.
In the context of Lisk, could introducing time-limited delegate voting where voting weight gradually decays unless actively renewed help promote a healthier, more dynamic governance ecosystem?
Such a system might encourage voters to stay more engaged, re-evaluating their support periodically rather than “setting and forgetting” their votes.
It could also reduce centralization by giving new, active delegates a better chance to participate meaningfully in governance without being overshadowed by long-entrenched power blocs.
Has this idea been considered or debated within the Lisk community? What would be the technical or philosophical hurdles to implementing such a system? Checked Overview | Lisk DocumentationGolang Course guide related to this and found it quite informative.
I’d love to hear thoughts from developers, voters & delegates alike on whether a mechanism like this would strengthen or weaken the core ideals of Lisk’s governance model.
Thank you !!
