Hello Lisk! This is benedictvs – Product Lead and Tech Resident at Nouns Builder. Over the last weeks, I’ve been ideating with @Bratipah on the opportunity of bringing Nouns Builder and a section of the Nounish Community to Lisk.
One of the challenges we’ve identified is making Lisk better known to the right organisations and projects. As Nouns Builder, we’d like to spearhead this change by bringing extending our platforms usage and reach to the Lisk ecosystem.
After having shared an early version of a design document with some of Lisk DAO’s stakeholders, I want to invite deleagtes, delegators, and the Lisk team to disucss this opportunity and ideate on the most impactful way for bringing it to light.
In a nutshell we would like to launch a Lisk version of Nouns Builder tailored to your community needs and work with you to enable the Lisk DAO to use it as a resource for the dispersement of investments into the ecosystem. We are open to structuring the opportunity as an investment, e.g. SAFT or similar, combined with a service offering. This could look like as follows.
Executive Summary
Lisk DAO has committed substantial capital to ecosystem growth but lacks fund-level governance, reporting, and participation tools. This creates fragmentation between DAO-level oversight and day-to-day fund allocation, limiting transparency, verifiability, and informed participation by delegators and office holders.
Addressing delegator concerns, Builder proposes deploying the Nouns Builder Protocol on Lisk to introduce a dedicated sub-DAO layer for fund management. This layer bridges DAO governance and investment execution, enabling transparent capital allocation, measurable performance tracking, and structured community participation without removing ultimate control from the Lisk DAO.
The implementation combines Nounish NFT-based governance, audited capital management infrastructure, SocialFi engagement, and advanced analytics. It allows Lisk to move from static grant administration towards an ongoing, data-driven growth mechanism that attracts projects, experts, and users, while reducing information loss and governance risk.
Delivery is planned over 12 weeks, covering protocol deployment, analytics and SocialFi features, UX refinement, and launch with operational support. Ongoing services include expert onboarding, grant operations, and granular reporting for the duration of fund allocation.
Builder seeks funding in the range of USD 200,000 to 300,000, with flexibility on vesting and a mix of financial and in-kind support.
Overview
Lisk DAO has allocated significant capital to growth, but currently lacks the granular tools required for effective fund-level oversight and participation. This has created a gap between high-level Lisk DAO governance and low-level fund investment decisions, leading to knowledge fragmentation and delegator concerns regarding transparency. Builder proposes to provide its infrastructure on Lisk to bridge this gap, allowing any DAO member to verify and participate in the conduct of Lisk’s funds.
By implementing the Nouns Builder Protocol and Platform, Lisk can turn static grant-giving into a growth flywheel that draws in the projects, experts, and users needed to scale as an L2. This is expected to create a SocialFi ecosystem on Lisk, where expert vetting and community engagement ensure capital is not just distributed, but used to drive measurable impact. In line with a planned full-scale launch of Builder accessible to all communities on Lisk, this proposal also boosts long-term user retention extending beyond the immediate impact of the Lisk funds.
Problem Statement
Lisk DAO passed the proposal establishing the USD 2m Lisk DAO Fund Proposal, complementing its USD 15m Emerging Market (EM) Lisk Empower Fund. This substantial investment in ecosystem growth is met by a small number of incentive and grant programs that could act as a funnel and distribution mechanism. The expected inbound from these programmes, will add to the workload of members of the Grants Council, Steering Committee, and the anticipated Investment Committee. Combined with the fragmented reporting on the DAO-level versus investment decisions on the fund-level, this has raised the concerns among delegators
- Transparency of DAO participation in the DAO for committee member selection;
- Verifiability and measurement of investment decisions over time;
- Fund performance, metrics, and impact;
- Knowledge fragmentation.
In short, the problems that Tally and Forum solve for the Lisk DAO is missing on a fund-level to allow any DAO member, office holder, and delegate to participate in and verify the conduct of the Lisk funds’ governance. This increases the risk of information-loss for the Lisk DAO and governance failure of the funds.
Opportunity
Nouns Builder (“Builder Protocol”, “Builder Platform”, or “Builder”) allows anyone to deploy a Nounish DAO, transparently govern its treasury, and engage with their community. Since Builder was created in a collaboration between Nouns.wtf and Zora, we have empowered over 3,400 DAOs that raised more than 660 ETH across the Ethereum ecosystem. Builder brings together Web3 experts on technology, grants, governance, and community, who have helped create a fund for Farcaster (Purple DAO), fund media ventures (Yellow Collective/ Collective Nouns), DeFi communities (The Feythful/ Fey Protocol), and extreme sports (Gnars).
The Builder platform provides transparent decision-making with the credibility of Nouns, combines on-chain investment decisions with governance data, enables co-funding opportunities, and allows the tracking of fund performance. Most importantly, wherever lighthouse projects use Builder, on-chain communities follow and co-create vibrant SocialFi collectives.
Proposal
Builder proposes to support Lisk’s fund management by implementing a Nounish Sub-DAO layer on Lisk, which will also become available to all communities and projects on Lisk. By bridging the gap between high-level treasury management and ground-level project execution, Builder will ensure that Lisk capital is allocated with greater expertise, transparency, and community-driven growth.
We will complement existing DAO-wide liquid governance with a capital allocation-focused grant management and social infrastructure, transforming user growth from a static administrative process into a dynamic, social, and data-driven ecosystem. This initiative will alleviate concerns raised by Lisk delegators over the fund allocation and decentralise the grant-giving process. Using Builder for parts of the Lisk fund administration, will offer Lisk and Lisk DAO the following value proposition
1. Nounish Governance Framework
- Decentralised decision-making using NFTs
- Explicit horizontal and vertical delegation (sub-DAOs)
- Elaborate proposal types, including escrows and streams
- Veto rights
2. The Nounish Flywheel
- Funding that brings in DAOs and activity, creating a flow of ideas and better projects that pull more users into the Lisk ecosystem, which will create more DAOs that drive TVL
- The Visual UX of the voting tokens instills identity and brand, which will make the Lisk fund stand out
3. Capital Management and Distribution
- Credible, scalable, and audited smart contract infrastructure for transparent funding disbursement
- Advanced analytics, on-chain progress reporting, and proposal management
4. Expert Network
- Long-standing Nouners available to support committees, sub-DAOs, and mentor recipients
- Evidence-based grant management expertise from members of the Metagov Grant Innovation Lab for advisory, impact evaluation, and feature design
- Strong reputation and trust from organisations like Nouns.wtf, the European Commission, Zora, Base, and Farcaster
Scope
The Lisk DAO currently lacks the granular community engagement and analytical oversight required for high-impact fund distribution. By merging SocialFi features with advanced funding analytics, Builder provides Lisk with the tools to not only distribute capital but to actively grow and monitor its community. This governance framework ensures that Lisk capital is allocated with transparency, expert oversight, and a focus on long-term user retention.
Builder is going to empower a dedicated community of experts and stakeholders on Lisk, using a Nounish NFT-based governance protocol. Lisk allocators, delegators, and fund managers will have the possibility to transparently create sub-committees, track success, and aggregate performance reports. Fund recipients can follow standard application processes and autonomous no-code on-chain governance without the Lisk DAO having to give up full control over the funds until grantee’s delivery. Delegators and funders can engage with all participants in the fund allocation process and veto allocation decisions, maintaining control over the principal. Together, participants can casually engage in a productive discourse by simply scrolling a feed, establishing rapport and building trust.
Funding
We are committed to work with the Lisk DAO to appropriately size the funding for this proposal. As a ballpark estimate, we are looking for funding in the range of USD 200,000 to 300,000 in Lisk structured as follows:
-
USD 150,000 - 250,000 as investment into Nouns Builder
-
USD 50,000 - 100,000 as a service componente with SLAs
This approach allows us to align incentives of Lisk DAO and Nouns Builder, while growing the eocsystem together. In this spirit, we are open to work with you in making this a success and are open to discuss vesting schedules and a sustainabile foundation for a long-term partnership.
